The EASYFIX Phoenix is a cubicle mattress which offers maximum cow comfort. The natural resting position of the cow is supported by the soft lying area within the mat.

The mattress contains a 25mm layer of latex foam and is interlocking on two sides with a sloped profile at the rear.

  • Increases welfare and cow comfort.
  • The open cell technology of the foam provides excellent comfort, durability and resilience.
  • Increases productivity - higher daily milk yields.
  • Easy DIY installation and suitable for all cubicle sizes.
  • The width can be increased using spacers.

  • Natural rubber compound.
  • Interlocking profile on two sides.
  • 500 micron sealed wrapper enclosing 25mm latex foam.
  • Sloped profile at the rear.
  • Foam 50% latex and 50% PU.

Cows can lie for up to 14 hours a day – the more comfortable the cubicle the longer the cows will lie. Cows produce 5 times more milk lying down in comparison to standing.

  • Top Cover – What thickness is the top cover material? The EASYFIX mattress has a top skin of 12mm over the 25mm Latex Mattress, and 12mm over the 50mm Latex Mattress – most available continuous systems range from 3mm to 6mm.
  • The weakest part of any mattress is the back 4-6” where the cow first steps to enter the cubicle – This is where you are most likely to find damage or tears. With this in mind, the EASYFIX Mattress has a minimum of 25mm of solid versus 3mm-6mm on other continuous systems.
  • If a tear occurs on a continuous system, the replacement is costly as you will have to replace the entire length.

A latex mattress is made up of two components – latex & polyurethane. The latex provides the memory and cushioning effect. EASYFIX use a 50:50 ratio in their latex and tests conclude that over a 10 year period, our latex loses 2% elasticity.

Competitors (if they know) will typically use 80:20 ratio as this is cheaper, and the memory and cushioning of the latex will decline over a shorter time period.

EASYFIX has designed the mattress surface with a finish that provides a good level of grip, but that is non-abrasive – compared to canvas type materials that can cause hock damage. This has implications for herd health, particularly fertility.

The simple ‘’knee test’ is a good indicator of comfort; free-fall to your knees and assess the impact. Remember that a cow transfers 70% of her bodyweight to her front knees when lying down, and free falls for 18-24”. For these reasons, a good cushioning surface is required to reduce impact on the cow’s knees.

Waterbeds/gel mattresses will typically provide little to no cushioning effect, as the water/gel is displaced away from the impact zone so that cows falls onto the concrete.

Mattresses can be easily cleaned using a brush, hand scraper or mechanically propelled cubicle bedder with a cleaning arm.

It is recommended to use a bedding material with every cubicle mat/mattress system, such as lime, saw dust etc. This will absorb liquid run off, ensure beds remain dry, and lime or material with antibacterial properties will ensure bacteria growth is lowered, therefore keeping SCC low, and preventing mastitis.
