FAQs

Rubber in the milking parlour can provide many benefits for both the cow and the farmer. Milking times are shorter, cow flow increased, cows don’t slip and get injured and cows are more willing to come into the parlour.

How is this possible?

  • The average gait length for a cow on concrete is 600mm, and on grass is 800mm. The average gait length on rubber is also 800mm. This increased step length and more natural movement will move cows through the parlour much more efficiently.
  • Cows approach the parlour willingly as they will opt to stand on rubber near the parlour entrance instead of cold, hard concrete in the collecting yard
  • Milk let down by cows is also enhanced as they are standing on a comfortable rubber surface as opposed to a hard, cold concrete and are more relaxed.
  • All parlour designs usually require cows to make sharp turns. Typical rotary platforms require 180 degree turns; herringbone parlours will have 90 degree turns etc. When you ask a cow to turn it puts pressure it’s claw, this is a source of claw damage that can lead to digital dermatitis or white line lameness. This is due to the abrasive nature of concrete, whereas rubber provides a comfortable, cushioned surface.

The cleaning time should be similar to that of concrete flooring. All EASYFIX rubber is designed to withstand cleaning chemicals etc.

  • With any rubber surface, it is important to ensure that the correct mat is used in the correct area, and knowledge of the number of cows being milked will determine how long a product will last.

Consider the traffic from a 100 cow herd milked twice a day versus a 1000 cow herd milked three times a day. 73K Cow passes versus 1.1m passes per annum.

EASYFIX endeavour to develop durable products that deliver value for money for customers. On average, EASYFIX products should last upto15+ years depending on their uses and traffic levels.
