EASYFIX sponsor 150th Year of Galway Races Summer Festival

EASYFIX Handicap Hurdle

EASYFIX has enjoyed a long association with the Galway Races and we were delighted to continue our sponsorship for 2019. This year, we sponsored the €50,000 EASYFIX Handicap Hurdle on Monday 29th July. Linger ridden by jockey JJ Slevin, owned by Rugby & Racing Syndicate and trained by JP O’Brien won the race.

The first of seven races kicked off at 5.20pm on Monday evening with local businesses, continuing their long affiliation with the Galway Races Summer Festival. The Connacht Hotel once again sponsored the feature race of the evening, the €100,000 Connacht Hotel Qualified Riders Handicap. Additional sponsors on the day included EASYFIX, The Galmont Hotel & Spa, Galway Bay Hotel, Claregalway Hotel, Clayton Hotel Galway, Eventus and Monami Construction.

Ireland’s Largest Horse Racing Festival

The highly-anticipated horse racing festival began Monday 29th of July, for its 150th year. This year, plans were in place for what was an extra special year with prize money increasing by €250,000 from last year.

There was fifty-two races over the seven days, with a minimum prize fund of €120,000 daily for the feature race. Ireland’s leading owners, trainers and jockeys headed to the Galway Races, in great hope of taking home significant prize money. This year the overall prize money increased to a record-breaking 2.3 million euro!

150 Years Celebrations

To celebrate the 150th milestone at Ballybrit, Irish artist John Behan was commissioned by the Galway Race Committee to design and produce a bespoke piece of life size art entitled “Leading in the Winner”. This piece was revealed beside the parade ring, on the opening day of the Summer Festival by An Taoiseach Leo Varadkar and we have no doubt that it will be a stunning new fixture at the racecourse.

Racegoers this year were also treated to a complimentary Galway Races 150th lapel pin and a commemorative brochure as a memento to celebrate the year, a small gift from the Galway Race Committee to thank all those that support the races now and over the years. Not forgetting the stars of the show- the winning horse of each race received a delicious bouquet of juicy carrots, complements of the racecourse.

Manufactured from artificial components, they are extremely durable, easy to install and maintenance free. The parade ring at Galway racecourse has also been fitted with EASYFIX max grip matting. The rubber matting is very comfortable underfoot and creates an extremely safe environment for horses.
